This guide explains what Find Care does. It shows you how to use it, step by step, in plain language.

Find Care helps you find nearby hospitals quickly and compare your options. You can start navigation inside the app and help other people reach care. It is a tool for finding hospitals and getting directions. It is not a medical advice service.

What Find Care does

  • Find hospitals near where you are now.
  • Show results sorted by distance, with the closest first.
  • Let you filter by type (Hospital, Clinic, Maternity, Centre) and by how far you want to search.
  • Open a hospital page with its address, phone, and hours.
  • Start navigation to a hospital inside the app.
  • Use a location someone sent you, and send another person step-by-step directions to a hospital.
  • Save hospitals on your device so you can find them again.

Before you start

For the best results, allow location permission when your device asks. If location is off, some features that find nearby hospitals or build routes may not work fully.

The first time you use the app, you may see a few setup prompts. For example, a short safety notice or a chance to enter your name. Read them, then continue to the main screen.

Home screen walkthrough

3.1 Top actions

  • Open search: opens the hospital list and the filters.
  • Emergency call: shows Nigeria’s national emergency numbers (112, 122, 199). It works when you appear to be in Nigeria. If you are outside Nigeria, use your local emergency number instead.
  • Theme button: switch between light, dark, or other themes.

3.2 Primary cards

  • Search hospitals by Nigerian state: the quickest way to view nearby hospitals.
  • Use a Maps link or coordinates someone shared: paste a location someone sent you and find care near that point (see section 6).
  • Open assistant: ask questions about how to use the app, right inside the app.

3.3 If Find Care can’t see your location

  • If you blocked location, the home screen shows a clear “we can’t see your location” message. You can still browse hospitals by state or open a shared location.
  • If your device is outside Nigeria, the home screen tells you so. Find Care lists Nigerian hospitals only, so “near me” cannot work outside the country. You can still use a location that someone in Nigeria shares with you.

Finding hospitals

When search opens, hospitals appear in a list sorted by distance. Use the filters at the top to narrow the results.

  • Type filters: All, Hospital, Clinic, Maternity, Centre.
  • Radius filters: 1 km, 2 km, 5 km, 10 km, 25 km, 50 km, or a distance you set yourself.
  • Show more: loads more hospitals when there are any.

Hospital details page

Tap any hospital card to open its details. From there you can:

  • See the full address and the hospital type.
  • Check the phone number and opening hours when they are available.
  • Tap call to phone the hospital.
  • Tap navigate to open the route screen.
  • Tap the save button (heart or bookmark) to keep it for later.

Helping someone find care (shared locations)

Find Care can use a location a friend sent you. It can also help you guide someone else to a hospital.

6.1 Use a location someone shared

  • On the home screen, choose Use a Maps link or coordinates someone shared.
  • Paste a Google Maps or Apple Maps link, a short share link, or plain coordinates. Find Care turns it into a point on the map. It then lists hospitals near that location instead of near you.
  • This helps when you are assisting someone who is somewhere else.

6.2 Shared-location mode stays on

  • Once you open a shared location, Find Care stays in shared-location mode. It keeps working even if you refresh or reopen the screen.
  • A banner at the top shows that you are viewing a shared location. Tap Use my location on that banner to exit and go back to your own area.
  • Shared-location mode is cleared only when you exit it yourself, or when you fully close and reopen the app.

6.3 Send directions to the person travelling

  • Open a hospital from the shared-location results. Tap Helping someone get here? to open the guide screen.
  • The guide screen builds step-by-step directions from the shared location to the hospital. You can then send these directions to the person travelling.

6.4 Sharing a location into Find Care

From another app, such as WhatsApp or a maps app, you can use your phone’s Share action and pick Find Care. The location opens straight away in the app.

6.5 The assistant understands

When shared-location mode is on, the in-app assistant knows you are helping someone. It answers your questions with that in mind.

Saved tab

The Saved tab shows hospitals you bookmarked.

  • If you have not saved anything yet, the page shows a short hint.
  • Saved items stay on the device you are using, unless a future version of the app adds account sync.

Profile tab

Use Profile to manage your personal app settings:

  • Set or change your display name, used for your greeting.
  • Change the app’s appearance or theme.
  • Jump straight to your saved hospitals.
  • Open the app’s info pages: disclaimer, privacy, terms, user manual, and support or contact.

Privacy and safety basics

  • You can use the main parts of Find Care without an account.
  • Location is used for distance and routing features. You can manage it from your device permissions at any time.
  • When you paste a shared location link, it is used only to turn it into a point on the map. It is not kept as a history. See the Privacy Policy for details.
  • Find Care does not give a medical diagnosis or treatment advice.
  • In an emergency, call emergency services straight away. For example, dial 112 in Nigeria, or your local emergency number.

Quick troubleshooting

11.1 I can’t see nearby hospitals

Check your location permission, your internet connection, and the radius filter. Try a larger radius, such as 10 km or 25 km.

11.2 Route is not updating

Check that GPS is on. Re-center the map on your location, then start navigation again.

11.3 A shared link won’t open

Make sure you pasted the full link. Some apps shorten links. Find Care will try to expand them, but a broken or private link may not work. You can also paste plain coordinates instead.

11.4 I want to stop using a shared location

Tap Use my location on the banner at the top of the home screen. Fully closing and reopening the app also turns off shared-location mode.

11.5 Saved list is empty

Save a hospital from its detail page first. Saved data stays on this device unless account sync is added in a future version.
